?Who causes the harm

I do not intend to comment on your article because I do not consider my opinion that worthy. Nevertheless I must comment on your final sentence. You write "Because as long as Jewish law - our Jewish law - can cause human beings this much pain, we are all responsible". The implication is that the Jewish Law - our Jewish Law is what causes human beings much pain. This is nothing that can be further from the truth. The Jewish Law causes no pain at all. It never did and it never will. The very Jewish Law that you refer to has just ways in dealing with husbands who misuse their ability to withhold a get. It is the people who cause the harm. If a person throws a child out the window of a ten story building, who killed the child? The murderer or the law of gravity? I contend that the person killed the child not the law of gravity. In fact the law of gravity gives us all of our life. Without it we would have no air and many other necessities. I agree with you that there much harm being perpetrated and am in full agreement that some action must be taken. I only disagree and strongly disagree that it is the Jewish Law that is the cause of the harm. I remain disturbed.
